Juan Amador Ramirez went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 24, 2023. Juan, 80, was born in Hebbronville, Texas to Amador and Josefa Ramirez. After graduating from Hebbronville High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Army in an intelligence unit from 1961-1964. He later married the love of his life, Socorro, on July 31, 1971. His daughter, Denise, was born 2 years later. Juan received his BBA from Texas A&M in Laredo while being married, raising a baby, and working full time. He worked as an investigator/negotiator for the Health and Human Services Department in Dallas for 32 years. He was passionate about fast cars, mountain hiking, and taking care of his family.
Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Amador and Josefa; his wife, Socorro; his sisters, Olga McCoy and Elma Chandarlis; his brothers-in-law, Bill McCoy and John Chandarlis; and his nephews, Michael Cantu, James Robert McCoy and Steven McCoy. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Gatlan Turk; grandson, Gunnar Turk; granddaughter, Chloe Turk; brother and sister-in-law, Juan Ramon and Laura Ramirez; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Wayne Mayer; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Juan will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Moore Bowen Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 10:00 AM, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016. A committal service will occur Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
