Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday, March 26, at Moore Funeral Home-Bowen Chapel. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joe's honor to the ASPCA, Disabled American Veterans or the American Cancer Society.
Joe Byler was born July 20, 1952. He was the son of the late Delmar R. Byler and Bonnie Byler Scheid. He served in the Army from 1972 to 1975. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in business administration. His career was as a senior claims adjuster with Gulf Insurance Group and claims examiner for Nationwide.
Survivors: Wife, Laurel Metzler Byler of Euless; her daughter, Megan Button of Ames, Iowa; his mother, Bonnie Byler Scheid and husband, Bob; sister, Jeanne Mitchell; brother, John Byler; foster sister, Johanna Hon; stepmother, Karen Byler Overpeck; stepsisters, Jamie Danias and Janet Carmichael; niece, Rachel Fisher; and nephews, Chris, Andrew and Will Byler.
