Joseph Robert Brooks

Joseph Robert Brooks, 90, passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, after a brief illness. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home. Internment to follow at Moore Memorial Gardens. Memorials May be made to Scottish Rite Crippled Children Hospital, P.O. Box 199300, Dallas, Texas 75219. Robert was born Feb. 2, 1920, to Joseph and Mittie Brooks in Jefferson. He served in the Army branch of U.S. Armed services and retired after 36 years from Temco/LTV. He was a 50-year 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Master Craftsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family as well as gardening and other outdoor activities. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends. Survivors: His loving wife of 58 years, Marie Morgan Brooks; brothers, Morris and David Brooks of Jefferson; sister, Ruth Mammen of Duncanville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
