John David Reynolds, 80, of Fort Worth, TX, passed peacefully in his home on August 22, 2023. John was born on January 21, 1943 to the late Johney and Gladys (Holliman) Reynolds. He married the love of his life, Wan-Exa Davis, in November 1966 and they shared 59 years of life together. He graduated from Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, OK and attended Gallaudet College.
John retired from the United States Postal Service after 35 years of service and enjoyed spending time with family and watching sports. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech football fan, and he was a member of Legacy Church of Christ and the Legacy Deaf Ministry. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh.
John’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Tender Heart Hospice for their compassion and excellent care provided during his last days.
John was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Hooper. He is survived by his wife; son, Rodney Reynolds and wife Jerrie of Watauga; daughter, Laura Opton and husband Eric, of Lubbock; son, Ray Reynolds and wife Nayeli, of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Lauren Childs and wife Rena, Katie Hamm and husband Josh, Sherie Johnson, Masen Opton, Ryan Opton, Brad Reynolds, Jack Reynolds, Jay Reynolds, Kaden Reynolds, Luke Reynolds, and Mia Reynolds; great-grandchildren Hezekai Childs, Anthony Davidson, Benjamin Hamm, Spencer Hamm, Brooklynn Hamm and Wyatt Hamm; sister Rebecca Corbin and brother Allen Reynolds; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
A celebration of John’s life will be held in Durant, OK at a future date. The family requests that memorials be made to Tender Heart Hospice (Checks mailed to 3210 West Park Row Drive, Arlington, Texas 76013, NOTE: In Memory of John Reynolds) and the American Heart Association.
