Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Thursday at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in north Arlington. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery in Denison. Visitation: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home.
John "Jack" was born in Sherman on December 11, 1930. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, from September 1950 to August 1954, acquiring technical skills in electronics. After an honorable discharge, he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University where upon graduation he accepted his first professional engineering position with Chance Vought Aircraft in June 1957 in Dallas and retired in February 1996. He served as manager of instrumentation systems design.
Jack continued his education with numerous technical schools and universities and resided in Arlington since 1959. He also served as precinct chairman and past president of the Arlington Republican Party in the mid-1960s and past president of North Texas Instrument Society of America. He enjoyed reading on most any topic related to history and politics.
Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Joanna Malear Kelly; sons, John V. Kelly III and Patrick Brian Kelly, and John's wife, Cari; sister, Nancy Perry; brother, James Kelly; and many nephews and nieces.
