Funeral: 12:00 pm Saturday, May 23rd at Moore Funeral Home, followed by entombment at Moore Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends there Friday, May 22nd from 6-8 pm.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to charity.
Billy was born Dec. 25th, 1934 to Joe and Lizzy Knight of Tyler, TX. Billy served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1971 with duty in Korea and two tours in Da Nang, Vietnam. Upon retiring, Billy worked for General Dynamic's Datagrafix Division for 15 years in San Diego, CA, as one of the first computer technicians in the industry. To the family, Billy was a hero. He selflessly cared for Jo, his severely disabled wife, for 25 years with love and kindness.
Jo was born Oct. 17th, 1932 to Clay and Ruby Smith of Milford, TX. Jo excelled in sports in high school, and was Captain of the girl's basketball team, as well as editor of her high school annual. Jo worked for LTV prior to marrying Billy, Oct. 25th, 1966, and moving to San Diego. Jo worked at the San Diego Dept. of Education as the Credentials Supervisor for 19 years, and was recognized with the “Woman of Achievement” award for outstanding contributions in 1984. Jo and Billy returned to Arlington in Oct. 1989.
Survivors: daughters Karen Popp, of San Francisco, CA, and Joyce Knight, of Arlington TX; son, Mike Knight, of Arlington, TX. Grandchildren Amy, Stephanie, Amanda and Shanah, along with many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
