Jimmy Ray Garrett, 78, of Arlington, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his home. Jimmy was born February 3, 1936 in Tipton, Oklahoma, the only child of Van Kirk Garrett and Dovie Ann Maxwell Garrett. After graduation he attended Altus Jr. College. He worked in lending and finance until early retirement. Jimmy married Betty Sue Beckner who preceded him in death September 1974. Jimmy joined the U.S. Army October 14, 1958 and served through October 7, 1960. He married Cynthia Anne Oliver April 7, 1973 in Arlington. He is also survived by his only child Kenny Garrett of Arlington. Mr. Garrett was a lifetime member of Arlington Bass Club. He loved fishing, flea markets, and playing Dominoes and Yatzee.
The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Moore Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11:15 am Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at DFW National Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Those planning to attend the service should be at the gate, lane B, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, not later than 11:00 am.
