Jerry Dale Howell

Jerry D Howell (88), of Arlington, TX, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 16, 2023. He was born on August 22, 1934, in Lamesa, Texas to JW & Lois Howell. He was a talented athlete, receiving a scholarship to play baseball at Hardin Simmons. He married his high school sweetheart and lifelong best friend who was the love of his life, Corene “Cooter” Howell on July 19, 1953, in Lamesa, Texas.

Jerry embarked on an illustrious career in the grocery business. In 1973, the family settled in Arlington, Texas. In 1991, Jerry retired as an executive for Skaggs Albertsons.

Jerry was passionate about his Christian faith. He and Cooter were instrumental in the establishment of five churches in the Arlington area. He was an avid collector of antique grocery pieces, as well as pressed steel, diecast trucks, trains, and other toys. He was an award-winning competition skeet shooter throughout his life.

Jerry is survived by his wonderful wife, Cooter, of nearly 70 years, and his three children, Cindy Snodgrass (Steve), Sandra Howell and Tommy (Sharon) Howell; grandchildren, Eric (Sasha), Jason (Nicole), Jeff (Lisa), Scott (Rhett), Sam, Hanna, and Molly; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Bailey (Mason), Justin, Milo, Cooper, and Henry and finally; the many grand-dogs he adored.

His Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
