Jeanette Johnson

Jeanette Benjamin Johnson, age 89, of Arlington, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Jeanette was born February 29, 1932, to the late Robert and Nettie (Bailey) Benjamin in New Orleans, Louisiana. She will always be remembered as a (loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, colleague) to all that knew and loved her.

Jeanette was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. She attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She was married to the late August Johnson Sr, and to this union eight children was born.

She worked for New Orleans Public School board as teacher assistant with Special Education children. She was Sunday School Superintendent at Pilgrim Rest B.C. New Orleans, LA Pastored by Rev. M.H. Littleton and was a member of Boyd’s National Sunday School Congress and she traveled to Boyd’s Sunday School Congresses. She loved to travel to the Sunday School Congresses with her good friend Ceola Perkins. She also loved to go on cruises with her sisters.

Jeanette was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana until she relocated to Arlington, Texas in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. After moving to Texas she joined the Church Without Walls,Pastored by Dr. Greg C. O’Quin where she served as a faithful member.

She leaves to cherish her memories seven loving children, Deborah Ann {Billy Brown, Baton Rouge, LA, Sharon Johnson, Houston, TX, Donna Lisa Ware, Arlington, TX, August Johnson, Jr., Los Angeles, CA, Tyrone {Ann} Johnson, New Orleans. LA, Louis A. {Leeta} Johnson, Mansfield, TX, and Don E. Johnson, Annapolis, MD. Two sisters, Louella Washington, New Orleans, LA, Everlean Benjamin, New Orleans, LA, two brothers Louis {Juanita} Benjamin, Cypress Spring, TX, and Irvin Benjamin, New Orleans, LA. Fifteen {15} precious grandchildren, Nine {9} adorable great grandchildren and One {1} darling great great grandson. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nettie Benjamin, her husband August Johnson, Sr., one son, Gregory L. Johnson, one sister Ethel Brown and one brother, Robert Benjamin, Jr., uncles, aunts, sister in laws, Eva Johnson, New Orleans, LA and Ernestine Johnson, Lynnwood CA.

A visitation for Jeanette will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 12:00 PM, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. A burial will occur at Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington, Texas.
