Janice was born to James Gartin Payne and Pearl Maurine Payne on March 13 in Wichita Falls, Tx. Once the family moved to Cleburne, Janice served as a pianist in her parents' ministry as Associational Missionaries for Johnson County. Janice was a proud graduate of Cleburne High School. While in school, Janice realized her passion for music, which became a lifelong ministry of service as she further developed her skills as an organist. After graduation, Janice married Thomas Benjamin Hairston in 1963, with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage. In addition to her music ministry and homemaking, Janice had other creative endeavors such as teaching piano, cake decorating, and scrapbooking. She was an employee of the Baptist Book Store for many years, and then became a receptionist at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Janice was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others and was an integral part of the music ministry in several churches, including Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne, as well as Highland Baptist Church, Hillcrest Park Baptist Church, and Mayfield Road Baptist Church in Arlington over a span of 50 years. As a loyal servant to God, Janice dedicated many of her hours to practicing the piano and organ, and filled her home with sweet melodies and memories that still bring great comfort to her children today. Now that Janice has passed into the arms of our Lord, we are reminded that while this is the end of Janice’s physical life on Earth, we also celebrate the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her in Heaven.
Janice joins her parents, James and Pearl Payne, brother, Linn Calvin Payne, her husband, Thomas Benjamin Hairston, and numerous family members in Heaven. Janice is survived by many loving family members, including her daughter, Amy Johnson and her husband Samuel, Janice's son Thomas Benjamin Hairston and his wife Sue Ellen, Janice's beloved granddaughter, Hannah Johnson, Janice's brother Glen Payne, and his wife Elissa, Janice's sister Anita King and her husband Gaylon, Janice's cousin Barbara Batts, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends that have always been blessings, and brought her much joy and delight.
