I miss seeing that beautiful smile.  I always remember you working in Granddad's kitchen, fixing food or clearing away.  And always laughing.  Miss you.  You are at peace now.  Love you.

Mrs. Bell (I could never call her Jane) was like a second mother to me, and she always treated me as a daughter. I will always love her and keep her in my heart. I have known her for 67 years, and I remember and treasure every minute of it.

I remember walking into her house in the mornings before school and smelling the cinnamon toast being kept warm on top of the toaster.

I remember her always being there after school when Sheila and I would often sit down with her and watch Liberace or Dinah Shore.

I remember her laugh. She always laughed full out. I can hear it now.

I remember all of the laughing and fun shared by my parents and Mr. and Mrs. Bell as they played thousands of games of cards. I think the game was called “Oh, Shaw.”

I remember her the night before my wedding sitting in my mom's bedroom hemming my bridesmaids' dresses while a party went on around her.

I remember the time a truck carrying strawberries had an accident and Mr. Bell brought home crates of strawberries and us cleaning them until our fingers turned red.

I remember her delicious pork chops, and I remember trying to make them the same way, only to not quite get it right.

I remember looking forward to every spring when the Bells came to Phoenix and stayed with the Thompsons for a month.

I remember her piling her kids and me in the car and heading out to the drive-in theater. I'm pretty sure that it was on two of those outings that we saw Man in the Grey Flannel Suit and Judgment at Nuremberg.

The world was a better place with her in it.

I remember…. I remember…. I remember….

Thanks for keeping the cousins included in your life. Sorry that we were not able to get up to TN to see you guys while you were still there. I am glad that Jane has finished the race and is at peace now and reunited with Uncle Carl and others.

Last night I dreamed you were on a trip with us in our rv and you were having such a good time. I miss you mom.

Dear Sheila & Royce,
Our hearts go out to you at time and the days ahead. You two will be blessed by the loving way you cared for your mother. You could not have been a more loving daughter. Just know that she passed knowing how much she was loved.
We are looking forward to seeing you in March.
