James Nicholas Miller (Nick) went to be with the Lord on August 18, 2019, in Arlington, TX while undergoing cancer treatment. Nick was born on February 14, 1946, in Odessa, TX, to James & Sammie Vickery Miller. At age 10, Nick moved along with his family to Agha Jari, Iran, where his dad was employed in the Oil & Gas industry. Nick later attended boarding school in Rome, Italy, and junior high at Ousley in Arlington, TX and Metairie Junior high in Louisiana. He graduated from high school in Morgan City, Louisiana and attended college at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, Louisiana. After college, Nick enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent a portion of his four year enlistment aboard the USS Constellation aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War. Upon finishing his enlistment, Nick embarked on a 40 year worldwide career as an Oil & Gas Drilling Rig Electrician for companies such as Baylor Brakes, Penrod Drilling and Transocean Offshore. Nick resided in Arlington, TX after his retirement in January 2011.
Nick enjoyed visiting his children and grandchildren, geocashing, attending his Wednesday lunch group with friends, and was an avid reader of fiction books. In past years, he enjoyed boating on lakes and bayous in Louisiana.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Vance, and by his first wife, Mary Jim and his second wife, Lisa Siegesmund.
He is survived by his son, Nicholas and wife Dawn of Patterson Louisiana, and Nicholas’ daughter, Jessica and son Brandon; his daughter Kathrine Davidson and husband, Terry of Conroe, TX and their sons Ryan and Eric; Lisa’s son, Peter Siegesmund and wife Julia of Boston, Massachusetts and their daughters Alexandria and Marion; his brother, Tim and wife Ingrid of Granbury, TX and their daughter Shannon of Dallas, TX, along with many cousins, all of whom loved him very much.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday August 24th at the South Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, TX 76012
