He had a successful career in commercial lighting that included him fulfilling his lifelong dream of owning his own company, JLM Lighting (1981-1988).
In 1997, he unexpectedly suffered a cardiac arrest due to sleep apnea and thanks to heroic efforts of Plano firefighters, he was resuscitated after several minutes with no heartbeat. In spite of suffering brain damage as a result and becoming disabled, it was his goal since to raise awareness of the importance for everyone to check for sleep apnea.
A private family memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
