Every time I see the movie Hoosiers, I think of the days Jackie and I played together in Clinton. Small gyms, wooden stoves to heat the gyms, uniforms that didn't match, showers that didn't work, but we could compete with any team in the State of Arkansas.

I talked to Jackie many times over the past few years and I was amazed how much he remembered about us growing up in Clinton, AR (population 825) in the 1960s. Jackie commented many times, if they had had the 3 point line when he played he would have averaged 40 pts per game.

I can see Jackie on a beach, relaxing after saving a game in the bottom of the 9th with a 95 MPH fastball sinker pitch.

Jackie is in a  much better place now. Rest in Peace old friend.

I cherish the good memories of knowing Jack since meeting our freshman year at U of A.  We were both on baseball scholarships.  Such a great friend all those years until his death.  Had the pleasure of visiting with him just a few days prior to his death. May you rest in peace my good friend!!

The Whillock family lived next door to my family(Fraser’s) in Clinton.  Whenever Jackie would come home to visit with his parents, he would always come and check on my parents.  Jackie was a great person and will be missed!

      I am so sorry to get this news. I played baseball with Jackie at the University of Arkansas. I do remember Jackie had a blazing fastball that moved a whole lot. He was  tremendous athlete who was very competitive.  I lost track of Jackie until I ran across him at Sewell Cadillac when looking for a new car. We both recognized each other almost immediately.  He was a great leader and will be sorely missed.


Sad to hear of Jack's passing.  He was a fine man.  We roomed together one year at Arkansas and signed with the Cardinal Organization on the same day in 1964.   

We were sent to Tulsa and the general manager told us to get dressed up for a TV interview.  We were lucky that we had sport coats with us so we dressed up, did the interview and laughed about it afterwards.  Later Jack was sent to Winnipeg and that started his long and successful professional baseball career.

He was a very proud father and grandfather.  He will be missed.

We were saddened to just learn of the passing of Jack Whitlock.  He was a special friend having played baseball with him for the Arkansas Razorbacks.  As a shortstop for the Hogs I knew I would have limited action any time Jack was pitching because he was so good.  We have stayed friends through all these many years.  I will certainly miss this friendship.  Yes, he will be missed by us all but we have comfort in knowing he is now in a better place.   Our prayers go out for all the family during this sad time.  May God bless and comfort each of you as you adjust to Jack’s absence.

I have lost one of my best friends.  Jackie and I grew up together in Clinton, Ar.   He was truly the best athlete to ever attend Clinton H.S.  He played in the State High School Basketball Allstar Game his senior year.  He later attended  the Univ. of Arkansas on a baseball scholarship and while there, he signed and pitched for the Detroit Tigers  in MLB.  After his playing days were over, Detroit asked him to manage one of their minor league teams.  He will be missed by his many friends everywhere.
