Glenda Gail Drye Robinette, age 82, passed away on Saturday morning, July 15, 2023. Glenda was born on July 1,1941, in High Point, North Carolina, to parent(s) Clyde Drye and Thelma Hampton Drye. She was the oldest of three children.
Glenda came from humble beginnings, but lived her life with purpose and a deep love for the Lord that was evident in everything she did. She raised three children almost single handedly; and she worked nights for many years as a nurse's aide at a local hospital while the kids were young and in primary school. Glenda and family eventually moved from South Carolina to Lewisville, Texas and began a new adventure here in the DFW area. It was here in the DFW area where she completed her GED and attended several Accounting and Tax courses at TCC. This would eventually lead her to own and manage her own successful Bookkeeping and Tax Service for many years.
Afterwards, Glenda felt that God was leading her in a different direction; so she went back to school to become a Child Care Director. She pursued this goal until later on in her life when she started a new adventure as an Activities Director for a local Assisted Living Facility. Glenda really loved and thrived in this role until she retired in 2008.
Glenda was a resident at Ashwood Court Assisted Living in NRH for the last few years of her life. She loved living at Ashwood and had many friends there. She loved singing in the Ashwood Choir and leading Sunday afternoon Bible study for the residents. Glenda loved her family with such a deep, profound love and affection. This love was a pivotal part of her being and everyone knew just how much she loved each one of us.
Glenda was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Robinette; her spouse, William Robinette; her mother, Thelma Clements, her father Clyde Drye and her step-father, OJ Clements.
Glenda is survived by her daughter, Darla (Terry) Robinette-Schwartz, her son, Mark Robinette; her grandchildren, Alyson (Brian) Stearns; Stephanie (Mario) Stewart; Matthew Odom, Madison Powell; and four great grandchildren (Risa, Jonah, Jenna, and Jaxon) and brother, Ron (Grace) Drye, nephews Ben (Teresa),and John (cindy) and sister, Janis Drye; niece Amanda Hyde and great- nephew Wesley and great-niece Tyler.
