George N. Carter Jr., known affectionately as "Pawpaw," peacefully passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on November 16th, 2023. Born on July 29th, 1950, in Fort Worth, Texas, he was the eldest child of George Carter Sr. and Elouise Carter. George is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Carter, four children and spouses - Angie Gibson, Greg Carter, Jason and Tracy Gardner, and Scott and Glenda Gardner - and ten adoring grandchildren: Justin, Ryan, Haley, Branson, Landon, Alaina, Logan, Lainey, Austin, and Triston. He is also survived by his mother Elouise Carter, brother and sister-in-law Chuck and Pearl Carter and his sister Connie Carter Winters.
Growing up in Dallas, George developed a passion for boxing, trained by his father alongside his brother. His dedication and skill led him to compete and win Golden Gloves championships. This love for boxing stayed with him throughout his life, becoming a defining part of his character.
In October of 1971, George joined Dover Elevators, later becoming Thyssenkrupp, where he excelled in his career until his retirement in July of 2016. Beyond his professional life, George found the greatest joy in spending time with his family, who meant the world to him. His warm presence and the title "Pawpaw" were cherished by his grandchildren.
Aside from family, George enjoyed the thrill of trying his luck at the casino, particularly at the slot machines. His caring heart and love for those around him were evident in every aspect of his being.
A public visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Sunday, November 26th, at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas. Services to celebrate George's life will take place on Monday, November 27th, at 10:00 a.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, followed by a committal service at Moore Memorial Gardens.

The family expresses gratitude for the support received during this challenging time, and George will be remembered for his love, laughter, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
