Gary D. Cool, Lt. Col (USAF, Retired), 88, passed away January 25, 2023. He was born in Concordia, Kansas, on June 19, 1934, as the only child of Melvin and Leta (Hogue) Cool. On June 7, 1954, Gary married Donna Jo Woods, also of Concordia, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering before beginning his twenty-two year career as a pilot in the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam, the United States and Europe. Once retired, Mom and Dad enjoyed fishing, golfing, spending time with grandkids and living in East Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Leta (Hogue) Cool, his wife, Donna and daughters Rebecca Lynne Cool and Michelle Cool Worman. Survivors include his daughter, Christine and her husband Gary Hubbard of Arlington,TX, his son, Douglas and his wife Veronica Cool of Round Rock, TX, and son in law Brian Worman of Lubbock, TX; seven grandchildren: Nicholas Cool, Sarah Cool Von Ruden, Gary Hubbard, III, Suzanne Hubbard, Lt. Jacob Worman, Fred Worman and Ian Worman, and great grandchildren: Alec, Haley and Daniel Von Ruden, Savannah and Kinleigh Jo Cool and Nolan Hubbard.
Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am on February 6, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 500 East Dallas Street, Mansfield, Texas.
Burial will be 1:00 pm February 6, 2023, at the DFW National Cemetery with military honors.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Isle at Watercrest as well as Concho Hearts Hospice for their care and friendship to dad.
