Gail Carol Henderson passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, in Mansfield, TX, after a courageous bout with breast cancer. She was born on December 2, 1953, in Waco, TX, to Floyd and Ollie Mae Reed and was a wonderful sibling to five brothers and sisters.
Gail professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Zion CME under the leadership of Pastor Paul Young. On September 10, 1972, Gail met Larry Henderson, and they were married on October 12, 1973, in Waco, TX. They went on to have two children, Stefanie and Corey. Gail and Larry moved to Grand Prairie, TX, in 1979 and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. Under the leadership of Reverend N.L. Robinson, Gail, as an adult, confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized once again. She remained a member at Mount Olive until her passing.
Gail was love, class, and beauty defined. Her genuine warmth and humor drew in anyone she spoke to. It was never a surprise to see her turn a passerby or customer into a lifelong friend after a few minutes’ conversation. It was a done deal.
Gail’s joyful personality, along with her quick wit and go-getter attitude, also made her an accomplished saleswoman. After graduating from Carver High School in 1971, she completed two years of business school training. She worked her way up from a bank teller position at Bank of America to branch management and commercial lending at Chase Bank. Gail retired from Wells Fargo in April 2019 after several successful years as a vice president and top performer in commercial loans.
From transforming underperforming branches into winners to gracing her very own billboard, Gail was a star. She faced her cancer battle the very same way — determined, hopeful, and the picture of grace. Now she’s resting in the arms of the Lord.
To know Gail was to love her (and know her signature color, red). She will be missed and cherished every day by her friends, family, and survivors: Her husband, Larry Henderson; daughter, Stefanie Henderson; son, Corey Henderson and his wife, Lindsey; sister, Floydene Jackson and her husband Freddy; sister, Debra Reed Smith; brother, Bernard Reed and his wife, Josie; brother, Floyd Reed and his wife Yolanda; her granddaughters Raven Haynes, Avery Henderson, and Zoe Fowler, and grandsons Isaiah Henderson and Luke Henderson; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and two aunts, Bennie Williams and Ana Faye Washington. Gail is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Snell.
