Gail Anne Dean-Charity

On Wednesday, April 28th, 2021, Gail Dean-Charity, loving mother to her three children, passed away at the age of 66. Gail was born on June 16th, 1954 in Princes Town, Trinidad & Tobago, to her beloved mother Irma, and father Owen Dean. She married Peter Ramjattan for 17 years. They raised 2 daughters, Samantha and Tinelle, and their son, Timothy.

She relocated to Queens, NY in 1987 having greater aspirations for her children. She met a lifelong friend that became her husband in Ivan Charity. She met many people and became everlasting friends with Bernice Retemeyer, and Richard & Cheryl Clarke.

In 1992 she was devastated by the loss of her eldest daughter, Samantha Ramjattan, at the young age of 16. Gail would find solace through her brothers and sisters, and peace in prayer, through it all. Gail moved to Miramar, Florida where she would achieve her goal of homeownership in 2004. With diligent aide from her daughter Tinelle Ramjattan, she became a breast cancer survivor in 2007. In 2010, she became a grandmother.

Her passions were traveling, raising her granddaughter Makylah Samantha Ramjattan, and spending quality time with her loved ones. She was a believer in Christ, and a lifelong Catholic. She enjoyed cooking, dancing to the rhythms of Calypso Music, and talking with her friends. She adored her brothers and sisters, and never hesitated to do anything and everything for her two surviving children.

She was well known for her outspokenness, quick wit, infectious smile, her resilient spirit, maintaining exceptionally clean surroundings, and her preferred color of Red.

Gail was preceded in death by her grandfather Nazru Dean, her mother Irma Dean, and her daughter Samantha Ramjattan.

She is survived by her husband Ivan Charity, her two children Tinelle & Timothy Ramjattan, her two grandchildren Makylah Samantha Ramjattan & Benjamin Coleman, her three brothers Ronald, Richard, and David, her five sisters, Angie, Margaret, Patsy, Rhonda, and Camilla, her Aunt’s Maria and Angela, several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
