It is with great sadness that we announce that Franklin(Frank) Wayne Luther passed away peacefully at Midland Memorial Hospital after a brief illness and surrounded by family on April 4th, 2025 in Midland, Texas at the age of 92.
Frank was born in Fort Worth, TX on July 10th, 1932 to Leslie Wayne Luther and Doris Ruth (Dunbar) Luther. He grew up in the “Poly” area of Fort Worth along with his older brother, Jimmy. He often referred to houses on Avenue J and H.
Frank graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth, TX in 1950. He went onto working at Gulf Oil as a draftsman where he met the love of his life, Dolores Bardin with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 70 years. The two of them married on April 1st, 1955 and work transferred them to Midland TX where they settled down to start a family. While working as a draftsman for Gulf Oil, Frank had the Imperial Apartments of Midland TX built in 1961. Shortly after, Frank and his wife were blessed with two children, Glen Luther and Gary Luther.
Frank spent his early years of parenthood coaching his sons’ baseball and football teams, enjoying every minute of it. He loved spending his free time traveling with his family enjoying numerous camping, fishing, beach, and snow skiing trips along with holiday visits with family in Arlington (which often included a day at Six Flags) and Fort Worth over the years. He truly valued quality time with the ones he loved most. Frank lit up every room he walked into with his contagious smile and positive attitude. He never missed an opportunity to tell his family how proud he was of them and how much they meant to him. Frank was a gentle, kind and compassionate man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores Bardin Luther of Midland, TX. His children; Glen Luther and Gary Luther of San Angelo, TX. “Pap Paw” also leaves behind his four grandchildren; Jamie Luther and his wife, Morgan (Brunet) Luther of Houma, LA, Brennan Luther and his wife, Fernanda Luther of Anna, TX, Crystal (Luther) Menendez and her husband, David Menendez of Austin, TX, and Karly Rosenbaum and her husband, Timothy Rosenbaum of Trenton, TX. Along with his 6 Great Grandchildren; Will, Charlotte, Esther, Hugo, Noah, and Brady.
Frank is preceded in death by his father, Leslie Wayne Luther and mother Doris Ruth (Luther) Martin. His brother James Leslie Luther, as well as his grandparents.
A graveside burial service will be held at Parkdale Cemetery, 701 S. Mary Street Arlington, TX 76010 on April 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
