Dr. Frances LaVern Pierce Lankford

Frances was born in Raymondville on March 3, 1925, to Charles W. Pierce and Bessie LaVern Budge. She graduated from Raymondville High School and received a BA from the University of Texas in Austin in 1945 and received her M.D. degree from the University of Texas at Galveston. She was married to Eugene Lankford Jr. on June 10, 1950. Fran had a career in pediatric medicine in Arlington from 1955 until 1993. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Arlington and the American Medical Association. She had a passion for gardening, tennis, golf, playing the Gamba, and spending summers at Camp Nakanawa for girls in Tennessee.

Survivors: Fran is survived by daughter, Lynda Lankford of Fort. Worth; son, Chuck E. Lankford (Lisa) of Southlake; daughter, Patty Lankford Akers (Monte) of Austin; grandchildren, Megan Austin Akers of Austin, Nathan Edward Akers (Alexis) of Arlington, Spencer Lankford of Southlake; great-grandchildren, Madison Marie Akers and Harper Channing Akers of Arlington.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Arlington, with a reception to follow at Moore Funeral Home. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home.
