Floyd Allen Terry passed away on May 29, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born November 29,1952 in Lynwood, California to Gilbert and Virginia Terry (Wynn). He was raised by his grandparents, Harry and Lena Kelly who he loved as parents. He attended Paramount High School lettering in track – he still has the letter jacket to prove it.
He grew up learning to play the guitar from his grandpa Kelly and would often play and sing in the church where his grandfather pastored. After high school he attended college but his passion was in music and he joined the Crownsmen quartet. The band produced an album and toured for a period of time through numerous states.
In 1979 Floyd moved to Velma, Oklahoma to be closer to his grandparents and started a 20-year career with Halliburton. Starting in IT Operations, Floyd’s hard work and talents led him to manager and director positions. In 1999 he left Halliburton to become the IT director for CIS where he worked until his retirement in 2014.
Floyd married his wife Karen on November 3, 2001 after a whirlwind courtship of 13 years. Together Floyd and Karen enjoyed exploring wine vineyards in California, traveling internationally seeing plays in London, exploring street food in Toyko and forests in the Czech Republic. Floyd was especially close to his daughter Katie and passed along his love of music to her. Their favorite pastime was hanging out at the Guitar Center, playing music or watching music videos. Floyd never gave up his love of music and would spend many hours playing, listening and recording music most often with his brother Randy and sister Marcia.
Floyd is survived by his wife Karen, his daughter Katie and her wife Nix Eyraud, his sister Marcia Barnett and her husband David, brother Randy Terry and his wife Pam, brother-in-law Jimmy Frosch and his wife Jill and his half-brother Sam Irvin. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Floyd is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and sister Linda Wilburn, half-sister Karen Sue Rivera-Humak, parents-in-law Herb and Evelyn Frosch and brother-in-law Robert Frosch.
A a celebration of life for Floyd will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016.
