Ernie grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and later married Carmen Santiago. He later moved his family to Puerto Rico to be closer to his wife’s father. He spent 25 loyal years working for Delta Airlines, moving to New Orleans, Louisiana. His career eventually led him to Arlington, Texas where the family finally settled. Ernie loved learning, reading, playing with his grandchildren, making people laugh and traveling. He had a deep love for helping others and leading them to Scripture. His greatest passion was his family, whom he loved dearly. He was their Godly leader, steadfast provider and faithful supporter. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife Carmen Cruz of Arlington, Texas; his daughter Linda Cruz of Sachse, Texas; his sons Joshua Cruz of Salida Colorado; Fernando Cruz of Gene Autry, Oklahoma; and Richard Cruz of Arlington, Texas; his daughter in laws Hillary Cruz of Salida, Colorado; Erin Cruz of Gene Autry, Oklahoma; his grandchildren Joshua Estes-Cruz, Avery Josephine Voss-Cruz, Alexander Quan, Ryan Quan, Anthony Cruz and Devan Cruz; his sisters Lucy Figueroa, Bienvenida Algarin, Gladys LaTorre, Carmen Melendez, Iris Cruz, Alicia Cruz, Miriam Santiago, and Nancy Santiago; his brothers William Cruz and Jimmy Santiago and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded by death by his parents and his nephews Adam Cruz and Steven Lopena-Santiago.
Private interment will be held at Moore Funeral Home.
