She was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Earl Rice, her parents, Ernest McKnight and Lola Mae Davidson,sisters, Catherine Smith, Melba Newton, Joan Lusby, brothers, Robert McKnight and Jesse Wynne McKnight.
She is survived by one sister, Martha Enlow. Ernestine is also survived by daughter Judy Rogers and husband, Will Rogers of Peachtree City Georgia, daughter Susan Gleghorn and husband, Gary Gleghorn of Flower Mound, Texas, grandchildren Glen Rogers and wife Dawn Rogers of Keller, Texas, Ben Rogers and wife Dawn Marie Rogers of Cartersville, Ga, Lauren Burden and husband Jeremy Burden of Prosper, Texas and Robyn Fletcher and husband, Ryan Fletcher of Celina, Texas. In addition, she is survived by 7 great-grandchildren, Sarah Rogers, Jake Rogers, Ally Rogers, Ethan Burden, Hannah Burden, Hayden Fletcher and Lilly Fletcher. Ernestine’s family was one of the founding families of Arlington, her father running the McKnight Grocery Store. While attending Arlington High School, Ernestine met the love of her life, Murray Rice, who she saw across the room in study hall and thought was the best looking man she ever saw. They married in 1937 and had two daughters, Judy and Susan.
Ernestine’s goal in life was to be the best wife, mother and homemaker that she could be. She achieved her goal, lived a long and happy life and will be missed by all that knew her and loved her.
