EULESS -- On Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, Elwood W. Craft, 94, passed from our world into heaven at 12 minutes until midnight on the eve of our Savior's birth. By his side were his daughter, Kathy C. Farris and her husband of 38 years, Glen S. Farris.
Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. Interment will follow in Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Craft was born in Bastrop to Walter and Abby Craft and joined the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was stationed in India and flew aviation fuel from India to Burma as a part of the air war. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. After returning to the U.S., he worked most of his life at Cummins Sales and Service in Arlington. He was a 60-year member of the Masons, most recently with Estelle Lodge. He was a man with a high work ethic, integrity and love for mankind. Now he rests in peace in the loving arms of Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his precious wife of 57 years, Mary Smither Craft of Ozark, Ark.; and his beloved brother, James Craft of San Antonio.
Survivors: Daughter, Kathy Farris and her husband, Glen; grandsons, Brian Farris of Burkeville, John Farris of Lumberton. John's family includes his wife of nine years, Darice, his daughters, Marlee and Madi Jackson; and son, Matthew Farris. He is expecting a great-great-grandson in April 2011
