Edna Earl Dailey was born on Thursday, August 13, 1925 in Kingsville, Texas. She was chosen through adoption, as their only child, by Alonzo and Georgia Dailey and raised in love until their natural deaths. As a young lady, Edna found love in Addison "Speedy" Ferguson. They married in 1944 and remained married until his death in 2007. Together they made a home filled with love where they provided for and raised eight successful children: 5 sons, 3 daughters.
A beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Edna cherished the large, growing family that originated from her small one. Additionally, Edna lived with a servant heart, not only caring for her children, but also her late husband during his decades-long illness. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, completing crosswords, laughing at Steve Harvey's antics on Family Feud and reading her favorite publication - The Kingsville Record.
After her husband's death, Edna moved to north Texas where she lived with her youngest daughter, Gratia in Grand Prairie until her untimely death in 2014. Then, Edna lived with her daughter, Deborah, and son-in-law, Melvin, with whom she always used her quick wit in their jovial encounters that kept her laughing. Edna enjoyed nearly 10 years in Arlington until a severe injury required her to be placed in a long-term care facility. Even in that facility, Edna was surrounded by family and friends daily to assist in her care during her final days on this side of heaven. With Valentine's Day expressions illuminating her room, Edna left this temporary home to be reunited with The Father. She lay peacefully in her sleep with her faithful and dedicated caregiver and daughter, Deborah by her side.
Edna is survived by her 7 of her 8 children: Samuel, Ralph (wife, Denise), Charles (wife, Yolanda), Emmett (wife, Mary), Jacqueline (husband, Reginald), Deborah (husband, Melvin) and Reginald (wife, Loretta), dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Edna Earl Ferguson - a complete life, well-lived. Chosen by love. Lived in love. And now with God, who is Love.
A visitation for Edna will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM.
