Eddy graduated from Elk City High School in Elk City, OK, where he was 2nd team All-State in football, basketball and baseball. He went on to attend Oklahoma University on a baseball scholarship where he was an All-American his senior year. He has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from OU.
Coach Peach served as the Head Baseball Coach and Assistant Football Coach at Arlington High School from 1965 to 1970 with a record of 111 wins and 34 losses in baseball. They were also 1967 Regional Finalists and 1968 State Final Four.
He served as Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator at Lamar High School from 1970 to 2010. Their official state record for 39 seasons was 310 wins, 123 losses, 6 ties. The school’s official record for 40 seasons was 316-126-7 (first year wild-cat schedule).
Honors and distinctions include THSC Hall of Honor, 2017; Texas High School Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2017; Arlington Independent School District Hall of Honor, 2017; Arlington ISD Schools opened the Eddy and Debbie Peach Elementary School in 2016; National Football Foundation Gridiron Club of Dallas Legends Award, 2016; Fort Worth Officials Association Lifetime Award, 2010; he was the first Texas high school coach to win 300 games at the top classification in Texas, 2008; THSCA North All-Star Coach, 1996; Denius-UIL Sponsor Excellence Award, 1994; he was the first Head Football Coach in Arlington Lamar and he led his football teams with only four losing seasons in 39 years, 1970 – 2009; 14 time “District Coach of the Year” winner; he coached his team to the playoffs 19 times, with a championship game in 1990 and semifinal appearances in 2000 and 2003; his team had 13 consecutive playoff appearances from 1988 – 2000; designated “Coach of the Decade” 1970 – 1980; and was listed 10th on Texas’ all-time wins list as of 2017.
The Peach family exhibits dedication to education and athletics. His wife Debbie Peach was Head of the English Department and taught advanced placement and honors English at Lamar High School until her retirement; son Scott Peach is Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator at Arlington High School, his wife Kim Peach is Assistant Athletic Director for AISD, their children Cooper and Campbell Peach attend Duff Elementary in Arlington; son Shawn Peach is Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Moody High School, his wife Brianne Peach is a Science teacher at Hewitt Midway Middle School.
Coach Peach is survived by his wife, Debbie Peach; sons, Scott (Kim) Peach and Shawn (Brianne) Peach; grandchildren Cooper and Campbell; and brother, Rudy Peach.
The family will receive visitors at Moore Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Funeral Services will be held at Lamar Baptist Church on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Randy Weaks officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be Elvin Jones, Jim Poynter, I.C. Little, Dr. George Anagnostis, Weldon English and Kenny Perry. Honorary Pallbearers include Chuck Bice, John Daniel, Jimmy Jones, Jerry Ward and Charles Pearson.
