Dovie Idell Roddy

Dovie Idell Roddy, age 90 of Arlington, passed away on June 28, 2019. She was born on August 6, 1928 in Leesville, Louisiana, the daughter of Andrew Speaks and Eva Jordan Speaks. Dovie married Grady D. Roddy and he preceded her in death in 2011.

Dovie developed a love for gardening at a young age and carried that throughout her life, gardening everything from flowers to vegetables to fruit trees. As a wife of a US Air Force member, Dovie was able to travel the world. She traveled to Japan, Libya, New York, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas. No matter where they lived, she always brought a touch of Texas with her. In her spare time, Dovie enjoyed spending time outdoors, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Dovie is survived by her children Brenda Ellis and husband John, Ron Roddy and wife Theo, and Alan Roddy and wife Veera; grandchildren Anne Ellis and Leslie Roddy Goodwin; great grandchildren Emma and Savannah Goodwin. Dovie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Grady, and 8 siblings.

Visitation will be Monday, July 8 from 5:00-7:00pm at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 12:30pm on Tuesday at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
