Our mother has been a homemaker, she was also employed at Texas Tech University and for 35 years a dedicated worker at Piccadilly Cafeteria as a Baker. And later in life owned a janitorial and lawn service for commercial businesses with her late husband, Lucas R. Rangel, Sr.
Our mother had a great sense of humor and was a faithful Catholic. We sometimes thought she had healing powers.
She and our father had humble beginnings but to the world and others, they thought we were rich. Our mother taught us, children and grandchildren, to be grateful for the small things in life. Our mother never meddled in our personal affairs but when we were ready to confide in her, she always had the best advice that was full of wisdom. Not only did our mother have the biggest, giving heart she ALWAYS made everyone feel so welcome in her home. When her parents passed away, our mother was 34 years old, and without hesitation stepped in and helped raise her younger siblings. That's just who she was, a Godsend for all of us to be blessed to know her. Delores is and will always be the best cook! And if you were lucky enough to have enjoyed her Sunday breakfast then you would agree.
And she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
We love you mamá and we know even in death that you will continue to watch over us. And we will be waiting for your little signs that you are still loving us from above.
