Dave graduated from Lakeview High School in 1976 where he was a champion wrestler, and later attended Mountain View College. In 1981 Dave met the lady that was to become his wife of over 40 years, Kathleen Barbieri. They were married in Findlay, Ohio on June 18, 1983.
Most of his career was spent working in the lawn division of Trugreen/Chemlawn. Post retirement he found “the best job ever” in VIP security and working with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. The people he met, and the stories told, filled him with awe and joy.
To say he was a sports fan does not adequately convey his excitement. He saw his Texas Rangers win the World Series, Dallas Cowboys in first place in their division, and the University of Michigan Wolverines on top as well.
Landscaping was Dave’s passion, whether it be in his, his neighbors’ or his friends’ yards, he designed the perfect combination of plants, yard art, and ground cover to give lasting beauty to others.
He loved bird watching, dancing in the kitchen and spending time with family and friends. He spread his love through gift giving, kind gestures and words to family, friends, and strangers. His humor, stories, smile, and love will be missed.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Steve and Matthew Link.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, sons Bryan (Lorraine) and Nicholas, and brothers Jeff, Don, John (Leslie) and Joseph. Grandchildren include Carlee, Shane, Lily, Azul, Rosa, and Jeruzalem. There were many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews as well.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Souls Episcopal Church 316 W Main Street Arlington, TX 76010.
A a celebration of life for David will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016.
