Danny Fred Parks, beloved husband to Cynthia Parks of 40 years, father to Sharon, Dana, and Michael, grandfather to Rick, Melissa, Taylor, Allyson, Haley, Jessica, Nicholas and Cooper, passed away on June 23rd, 2020 at the age of 79. After several weeks of declining health, Danny passed away with his dear wife Cindy, children, grandchildren, niece, grandniece and grandnephew by his side.
Danny was born on October 17th, 1940 to Robert and Bessie Parks in Trinidad, Texas. The middle child, Danny was a loving brother who at an early age worked jobs to help out his family. His work ethic and desire to serve his country led him to enlisting in the Navy at 17. Danny held a 22-year career in the Navy and served one tour in Vietnam. Danny later worked with the Department of Defense for almost 30 years.
Danny loved his family, great food, and a cold beer. He was known for his loving generosity and welcoming spirit. He loved to take special requests for special food dishes and took great pride in his delicious S.O.S. (his granddaughter Haley’s favorite) and Round Steak and Rice. Danny found friends in many places; Cha Cha’s, Bobby V’s, the VFW, and even in the airport and grocery store. Danny was so friendly he would talk to a lamppost and most likely walk away with a new friend. He was much loved and admired. He and Cindy enjoyed many years of hosting fun parties, family dinners and delicious BBQ’s. Danny lived a life well-lived and modeled love of country and family for all. He will be missed beyond words and always remembered.
His family asks donations be made to Veteran’s Foreign War, Post 6111, on West Harris Street in Arlington, Texas and to always remember to thank a Veteran for all they have given.
