Daniel "Danny" Villescas was born December 4, 1965 in El Paso, TX, to Rosa and Raymundo Villescas. He was a loving husband, grandpa, brother, uncle, avid gun slinging movie buff, and self proclaimed "Master Chef" who passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 at the age of 57.
Growing up, he was known as the protector of the family to his four sisters and two brothers listed with their significant others as follows: Becky (sister) & Mark Ormsbee, Lilly (sister) & Memo Estrada, Julie (sister) & Jose Ortiz, Ruth Ontiveros (sister), Raymundo Villescas Junior (brother), and David Villescas (brother).
From the time he was in elementary, Danny was a hard worker. He started as a paper boy and then transitioned to a painter for the neighbors from his childhood, he loved them very much. He would always tell us that getting paid in cash was nice but he really loved to be paid with food as well, as he was always at his neighbor's house for his first dinner and then swiftly back at his mother's house for a second dinner. He was always ready to enjoy a warm meal with family and friends at the push of a button. His love of cooking started in the late 80s at his sister Lilly and her husband Memo's restaurant, Estrada's in Escondido, California. He loved to talk about the food that was made there and would often say "Man those Bean Burritos!" To him, food brought happiness and people together. He loved to talk about motorcycles, specifically Harley Davidson, his racing/ trucking days, and about his classic Camaro. He loved listening, singing, and playing air guitar to rock bands such as AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, and countless others. He was loved by many and earned many nicknames throughout his life such as "McGumby", "Danny Boy", "Gordo", "Old man", and "Papa." It is safe to say that Danny sparked the love for cookouts in our hearts when he started working for Eastside Choice Meats. There would be times when he would bring home two almost three inch thick steaks to put on the grill and get everyone together for a cookout and good laughs.
Danny met his loving wife, Martha Llamas at W.I.S where he was in charge of the inventory and she was a crew manager. Danny would say that it was his charm and good looks that wooed her but in all honesty it was their mutual love for good food that grew their connection. Danny grew his family when he married Martha in June 1991 and her son Eddie Orozco Jr. which he quickly grew to love and call his own son. In 1995, Danny picked up his family and moved them to Grand Prairie, Texas to work for Chamberlain as a Warehouse Fleet Manager. His final job was as a Room's to Go Repair Tech, it was one he says he loved the most because he got to work with his hands. He loved to fix broken items and make them new and beautiful, he often got a kick out of people telling him they couldn't believe how good his work was.
Danny was a wonderful grandfather to Alanis, Isaiah, Cristian, & Olivia. There wasn't a time where he wasn't doing something with or for them. He would make any excuse just to spoil them with food or toys so that he could see them smile. There would never be a week where he wouldn't bring sweets to the house for them. He would offer his time and patience at any time of the day or night, regardless of how sick he was. He would laugh with them with all of his might. He was there for every event and every request, even if it was to play barbies with his granddaughter Olivia. He loved his grandchildren so much that he tattooed their names on his arm and was waiting for the day he would be healthy enough to add his youngest grandchild to his tattoo portfolio.
He was the strongest warrior we knew. He fought through dialysis for 12 long years which consisted of thousands of needle pokes. He withstood more than 20 surgeries which included working on his spine, his heart, his abdomen, all of his extremities, multiple amputations, and he withstood many infections just to give us more time with him. We could literally call him Iron Man. Through all of this, he always found the brightside to his time in the hospitals, one being that he was able to eat the biggest and best breakfast burritos every day when he was at his favorite hospital.
He was a sweet and polite man. We are so honored to have met and had him in our lives.
Danny proudly became an uncle many times over to his nieces and nephews listed as follows: Michelle Rodriguez, Israel Rodriguez, Bethany Ortiz, Maddie Ontiveros (Great Uncle to Maricela 5.) , Austin Ormsbee, Cynthia, Michael, Christina Estrada,Sarah, Joshua, Ysabel Gonzalez, Brittney (Great Uncle to Abriella, Antonio, Jesse), Ruben III (Great Uncle to Landan, Clorinda), Nicholas (Great Uncle to Everly,Theodore), Danny Llamas. "I am glad I met Danny and we got married. He is the my Love of my life. Even though he is not by my side, He will always be in my heart. He was always telling me jokes. He was always there for me when I was sick until he himself became sick. I will cherish the time we had together dear to my heart, I thank the Lord for him. Till we meet again My Love." - Martha.
