Clyde Norman Smith, age 74 of Arlington, passed away suddenly on August 27, 2017. He was born on September 17, 1942 in Alamosa, Colorado, the youngest son of Forrest Smith and Bernice Schmuck Smith. Clyde married Gloria Arnold and they celebrated 52 ½ years of marriage together.
In addition to his wife, Clyde is survived by his children Ginger Hood and her husband Gary, Douglas Smith and wife Joy, and Jonathan Smith and wife Lisa; 12 grandchildren; and his sister Beulah Peiser. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Donna Taylor.
After graduation, Clyde enlisted and proudly served his country working on submarines in the U.S. Navy for 8 years. Following the military, Clyde worked as a computer technician for 42 years, first starting with Honeywell and retiring from Alliance Managed Services. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading about nutrition and homeopathic remedies, working on electronics, and savoring spicy foods. Family and friends will remember Clyde for his sense of humor and warming smile, which will both be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2017 from 6-8PM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 2 at 1:30PM, also at the funeral home, with Rabbi Jeffrey Seif officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Hawkins Cemetery, Arlington.
