June 10, 1923 – June 21,2019
Clyde was born June 10,1923 in Homestead, Oklahoma to Clyde Carey, Sr. and Hetty Parrish Carey. He was the youngest of four children.
Clyde served in WWII on a B17 only to be shot down and captured. He was a POW in Germany from September of 1944 until liberation of camps in May of 1945. Upon returning home, he bought a traveling skating rink and traveled all over North Texas, where he met the girl he would marry, Virginia Wells. They spent 70 years together and had 3 children.
There was nothing the man could not build, fix or repair. His skills helped remodel their home of 55 years over and over. He added on bedrooms, laundry rooms, patio rooms, etc. He built a playhouse and a greenhouse and the list could go on.
Clyde and Virginia’s favorite years were driving every week-end to Lake Palestine. With Virginia at his side, the two of them built a lakehouse exactly how she wanted it!
He was a quiet and dedicated man to his wife, his kids, and family. He never said no to any request of need. His favorite thing to do as well as being what brought him the most joy was collecting junk that someone had placed on the curb.
Clyde retired from LTV after serving 38 years as an Aircraft Mechanic.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hetty Carey, his wife, Virginia Carey, and son, Danny Carey. Survivors are his daughter, Janis Sharp and husband Bill, his son, Greg Carey and wife, Donna; his grandchildren Matt Jackson, Mark Jackson and wife, Shanna, Jake Jackson and wife, Ashleigh, Daniel Carey, Karis Spooner and husband Thomas, and Samuel Carey and wife, Adelia.
