Charles Lester Jernigan, age 91, passed away April 7, 2021 in Arlington, Texas. He has reunited with his beloved wife of 51 years, Wanda Ruth White Jernigan, along with their infants, Kathy Ann, Gary Don, and Charles Lester, Jr.
Charles was born May 27, 1929 in Leonard, Texas to Bessie May Stanley and Aubrey Lester Jernigan. The family moved to Fort Worth in 1930 and he lived in Tarrant County the rest of his life.
Guided by a strong faith, devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and deep love of nature and animals, Charles lived life with a perpetual smile and a frequent chuckle in his voice. He was a kind, gentle, loving man with many gifts – professional baker, welder, handyman, farmer, woodworker, master woodcarver, artist, family historian, storyteller and gentleman. He truly found joy in often helping others. At age 89, he finally retired from mowing the church property. He was a U.S. Army veteran. A true child of the Depression era, Charles was known to save EVERYTHING!
His laughter and hugs will be sorely missed by his brother, nieces & nephews, cousins, his Calvary Baptist Church family and many friends.
The family would also like to thank the excellent staff of Brookdale Pecan Park for their compassionate, incredible care.
