Carolyn Ann Williams, 83, of Arlington, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, Arlington, TX 76015. A reception will follow on location. A private cremation interment at Mustang Prairie Cemetery in Falls County to be scheduled.
Carolyn was born on October 12, 1939 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was the oldest child of George Morrow and Uldean Green Morrow. Carolyn grew up in Houston, Texas and was raised with two younger brothers, George Jr and Tommy. Their parents divorced when Carolyn was 7 years old and that's when they went with their mother to live with grandparents Fred & Ann Mae Green, Pawpaw & Mawmaw.
Carolyn had the most fond and vivid memories of her childhood while living with her grandparents through her senior year of high school. She said in her own words, "We were raised by a sweet little 5 foot 2 inch angle lady of a grandmother who tended to the children, cooked and cleaned and took care of the home while Pawpaw and Mother went to work to take care of the bills." Carolyn absolutely loved the life they had with them there in spite of the small living arrangements and the virtual neglect of a working and dating mother, and a totally absent and uninterested father. Her Mawmaw's love more than made up for what her parents lacked.
Carolyn was an incredible friend to many with a vivid imagination and keen sense of humor. She had many life-long friends whom she counted as blessings. Most notably, she maintained a 53 year membership in the women's sorority Beta Sigma Phi which she joined in 1969 while living in Peoria, Illinois; and the friendships continued more than 50 years with same the dozen or so ladies in her Texas chapter.
Carolyn was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Arlington for nearly 20 years serving in the Aldersgate Sunday School Class, Alpha Course Ministry, and caring for babies in the nursery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Thomas Morrow Sr. and Mattie Uldean Green Morrow; husband, Virge H. Williams; brother, George Thomas Morrow Jr, brother-in-law, Blaine Williams; sister-in-law, Katherine Williams, niece, Jeannie Williams Wierzbicki, and family friend, Jeffrey Lemonds.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Karen (Williams) Featherston and husband, John of Arlington; son, Michael Williams and wife Kristin of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Wesley Dowd and wife Cyndee of Arlington, Austin Williams of Seattle, Kacey Dowd of Fort Worth, Chase Williams and wife Rebecka of Pantego, and Blake Williams and wife Ashlee of Wills Point; great grandchildren, Sebastian Williams of Seattle, Jackson Williams and Sawyer Williams of Wills Point, and Waylon Dowd of Arlington; godson, Michael Lemonds of Austin; sister-in-law, Jimmie Morrow of Spring; sister-in-law, Audrey Streetman of Oklahoma City and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly. She just loved everyone -- she will be missed by all. Carolyn's ashes will be interred at a private family service in the spring at the Mustang Prairie Cemetery in Kosse, Texas.
It is an understatement to say that Carolyn was a good and kind person, she is an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a loyal, caring, compassionate, and loving person, someone who was a vital part of so many lives. Carolyn leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories for those she loved. She loved full well and genuinely with all her heart. She will forever be "A Remembered Redhead" and oh so greatly missed by all.
Memorials may be made to the Mustang Prairie Cemetery Association, c/o Cheryl Williams, Treasurer, 7983 Old Highway, Calvert, TX 77837.
