TRINIDAD, COLORADO -- It is with profound sadness that the family of Carl E. Privitt, Jr., announces his passing on February 12, 2015 at Mt. San Raphael Hospital in Trinidad,Colorado, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial Service: 10:00am Saturday at Moore Funeral Home. Burial: Private at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity. Carl was born in 1948 in Bowie, and graduated from Eastern Hills High School. Carl and his wife retired to Trinidad in 2003, after he served as a detective sergeant for the Arlington Police Department. Carl served in the U.S. Navy, Earned a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice, and was also a Mason. He loved scuba diving, sailing and being a “cowboy”. Carl spent most of his retirement taking care of his beloved horses and riding through the foothills of Colorado. He was also an amateur genealogist. He was a true southern gentleman, and will be missed by so many. Carl is survived by his wife, Barbara, his mother, Betty Nowlin, and brother, Michael Privitt(Linda) both of Omaha, Texas. He is also survived by his two sons, Carl E. Privitt, III (Lindi) of Austin; Robert C. Privitt (Ashley) of Albuquerque,New Mexico; a daughter, Kristin Privitt Ackerman (Justin) of North Palm Beach, Florida, and two step-sons: Gene M. Woodard, III (Teresa) of Arlington, and Andrew R. Woodard (Melissa) of Ottawa, Canada. He is survived by 8 beautiful grandchildren, several nephews and great-nephews and nieces.
