Almost everyone knew Brian to be exceptionally intelligent and hardworking. He could figure out any problem that he came upon, and didn’t let anything stop him from achieving his goals. His family remembers his wide range of interests and skills, and can account for the energy he would dedicate to learning how to do new things, and learning them the right way. He was often the best giver of advice to his friends, coworkers, children, and others.
Despite the many challenges he faced in his childhood, Brian was extremely successful in his career. His career in cybersecurity brought him so much joy in life, whether that be through the many projects he was part of, the traveling he would get to do, or the coworkers he met and made lifelong friends with. Brian was clearly passionate about his job–it appealed to that curious and knowledge-hungry side of him that we all loved.
In 2018, Brian went on a cruise through southeast Asia as part of a business trip. His family remembers that he returned as a changed man–in the time he spent in Vietnam, he fell in love with Vietnamese language and culture. He started learning to speak Vietnamese himself, until he eventually transitioned to taking actual lessons with a teacher. He dedicated so many hours of his life from then on to learning everything he could about the culture and making friends that could teach him even more, both in his home country and overseas.
Brian’s recent hobbies included riding motorcycles with nephew Cody Kee and their riding friends, practicing Vietnamese, going to the gym, and visiting with family and friends across Texas. Brian is survived by his two children, Riley and Brendan Kee, father Perry and wife Karen, mother Carolyn and husband Bobby, and sisters Katy and Angela. He was certainly loved across his huge family, but it is clear that his influence extended far past just his family and into every avenue of the life that he built for himself. Though his passing was so shocking to all of us, we know that he died doing something he loved, and was as happy as could be right up until the end.
A memorial service for Brian will be held Monday, July 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
