Services for Betty Whitten, 77, of Grand Prairie, Texas, who passed away early Wednesday morning, will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 10:00 am at The Church on Rush Creek, 2350 SW Green Oaks Pkwy, Arlington, Texas. Eric Phillips will officiate the service. The family will recieve friends at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis, Arlington, Texas, from 6:00 pm until 8:00pm.
Mrs. Whitten was born and raised in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to Eugene and Virginia Whitson Reed. She eventually moved to Florida where she met the love of her life, George Persal Strickland, and soon married him. Mr. Strickland had many job opportunities in different parts of the country and therefore the family moved quite a bit. During the time the family lived in Long Beach, California, Betty and George had three children, Jeffrey Reed, James Edwin, and a baby girl, Diane. The family settled in Garland, Texas and that is where Mrs. Strickland taught Driver's Education for the Garland Independent School District for fifteen years.
Betty was a wonderful woman who loved to dance, loved her family, and lived a wonderful life. She will be incredibly missed.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, George. She is survived by her loving children, Jeff, James, and Diane, and a host of friends and family.
