Bettie Lee Ashcraft Blair was born October 31, 1932, in Arlington, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She slipped away peacefully into glory on Thursday, June 27, 2024, surrounded by her husband of seventy-four years and many family members. She was ninety-one years young. You could fill a large book with her accomplishments: sewing, gardening, painting, reading, studying and her real passion homemaking. She loved her family passionately and was the “wind beneath the wings” of her husband, Rayburn Blair, a minister of the gospel. She was our true hero, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, a silent prayer warrior and a lady in every sense of the word.
Bettie loved reading the Bible. Her favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 16:3, “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established”. She loved laughter and would often say “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine”, quoting Proverbs 17:22. Her eternal security was based on Jesus’ own words in John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Ashcraft and Myra “Polly” Ballweg, stepfather Phillip Ballweg, brothers Bill Ashcraft and James Ashcraft, daughter Mary Curtis, great grandson Bryan Lane, sons-in-law Jerry Glenn and Ron Tyler.
