Arthur Lewis Latimer Jr.

Art was born April 11, 1931 in Vernon, Texas. He married Kathleen Stewart on August 28, 1955 and celebrated 65 years of marriage in August 2020.

He graduated from Texas Tech University with an Industrial Engineering degree. Art resided in Arlington, TX for over 53 years and worked for LTV/Vought Aircraft for 29 years, retiring in 1996 (using his slide rule up until the day he retired!). He loved to play softball and volleyball – playing in senior leagues until the age of 85.

He was a member of St. Barnabas Methodist Church in Arlington for 40 years, volunteering weekly to provide meals to high school students at lunch time, and church family members in the evening.

He could pretty much build or fix anything and loved to tinker with things.

He loved travelling with his wife Kathy and spending time on cruise ships, so he could get around-the-clock soft serve ice cream and pizza.

He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Vernia Latimer, brother (Deward), sisters (Vida, Rena, & Geraldine) and a great-grandson (Jackson).

He is survived by his wife Kathy, sister (Patricia Brock), daughter/son-in-law (Karen & Bob Peel of Lutz, FL), son/daughter-in-law (Steve & Cindy of San Antonio, TX), son/daughter-in-law (Craig & Lisa of Crowley, TX), 9 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
