Ann Marie Reed, 78, passed away on February 10 at her home in Arlington, Texas. She was a beloved mother, Nana, sister and friend. One of her greatest passions in life was education -- through travel, art, music, food, and great books. She was a grade schoolteacher for many years and went on to become a professor at Texas Wesleyan University where she taught others how to become educators themselves. Born to Irish and English immigrants, and raised in Brooklyn, New York with her sister Eileen, Ann was a true New Yorker at heart but eventually found her home in Texas with her husband Ron and their children Adam, Jeremy, and Rebecca.
Ann was always the life of a party and surrounded by an incredibly tight-knit friend group. She was an active member of the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame, Woman’s Club of Fort Worth, the teacher sorority Delta Kappa Gamma, and generous in many more charitable efforts. Her calendar always had dates marked for upcoming trips. The next adventures included Venice, California, where she frequently visited Jeremy, his wife Nicole, and her grandsons, Julian and Jack. Then to London, Ontario because she wanted to take her grandson Dane to visit the place where his mom was born. And, finally Paris with her granddaughter Gabrielle to celebrate her upcoming graduation from Oklahoma University. She and her best friend Candy were also planning one of their many girls' trips to the Hill Country as well as Tulsa, Oklahoma to see the Woody Guthrie Museum, and a return trip to Ireland.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Catherine Aspden, her husband Ronald F. Reed, her son Adam Reed and daughter Rebecca Pfleger.
Ann is survived by her sister Eileen Carroll, husband Peter Carroll, and their sons Pete, Terence and Casey; son Jeremy Reed, his wife Nicole and their sons Julian and Jack; son-in-law Wade Pfleger, grandson Dane Pfleger and granddaughter Gabrielle Pfleger.
Raised Catholic, Ann’s faith was always at the center of her life, and it gives her family great comfort knowing that she’s now reunited with Ron, Adam and Rebecca.
