Anh was born June 10, 1931 (Lunar calendar) in Vietnam to Phong Ly and Mai Chau. She married Tuan Huynh in Vietnam. They had 53 happy years together until Tuan's passing in 2005. Anh worked to put Tuan through high school which enabled him to join the South Vietnamese Army and later rise to the rank of Captain. Their family migrated to the United States in January 1980. Anh had many difficulties throughout her life, each of which she overcame. She was able to provide for her kids and grandkids at all times, even when everything was taken from her by the communists. Anh was a self-starter and had successfully started many businesses in her lifetime. Anh and Tuan began H & A Fashion, Inc., a clothing manufacturing company. One of their successful lines include American Dress 128. J.C. Penny, one of their vendors, even honored them with "The Greatest Clothier" award and they appeared in Time Magazine. As a gesture of appreciation for the United States, Anh and Tuan contributed $200,000 to the Regan administration. While only having a fifth grade level education herself, she made sure that her children and grandchildren were able to take full advantage of furthering their own educations by becoming both medical and philosopher doctors, nurse practitioner, lawyers, pharmacists, CPA, engineers, writer, real estate investors, custom home builder, real estate developer, entrepreneurs, and business owners.
Anh's determined attitude and spirit is something to surely be admired. Her legacy and dedication will live on through her family and descendants.
