Early Monday morning Alice Patterson beloved wife, mother grandmother and friend slipped free of her earthly bonds and went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. Alice was born in Brownsville Texas February 1, 1937 to her welcoming parents and older brother Charles and grew up cherished as the baby of her family. When she had reached her teens Alice and her family had relocated to Louisiana and in true Southern style she became a debutante, great dancer and active in her church. While in college Alice was active in outreach activities through her sorority and it was on one of those outreach projects with the USO that she caught the attention of a soldier. His persistence won out eventually and they were married for 49 years.
As a young military wife she alternately traveled around the world and held down the home front. She was always putting her families needs first being active in the children's PTAs, and making even the chore of paying bills a fun adventure for her young family.
Alice has now joined her husband and 3 of her children Jonndell, Baby John and Terrie. She is survived by 3 children Caylynn, Harold and Patrick,9 grand children Leia, Luke, Rachel, Mark Edward, Michael , Makayla ,Trevor, Thomas and Annette and 10 great grand children, her loving sister-in-law Rena, niece Charlotte , nephews Craig, Charles, her "adopted" son Harlan, immeasurable friends and a faith that took her through the hurricanes and sunny days that are all a part of life.
Alice had a big heart and cared as much for her friends and neighbors as for her family calling daily for updates and to let us know she cared. Alice was a remarkable example of strength and loyalty caring for her disabled son and seeing her husband through a long term illness never wavering in her belief that God was helping her through all of it. She was a quirky character. Fiercely independent, full of personality and stubborn, everyone that knows Alice has a story relating to her uniqueness. One of the best things about Alice was how she found humor in the strangest places and something to laugh out loud about everyday.
