Albert Denton Love, 98, passed away on March 12, 2019, in Arlington, Texas. Albert was born to Grover and Evelyn Love, on October 5, 1920, in Manila, Arkansas. Albert grew up in Manila where he helped on the family farm and played basketball in high school.
Following High School, Albert worked as a lineman for an electrical contractor until he was drafted into the Army during World War II. Albert served as a Tec 5 Corporal Glider Trooper in the U.S Airborne Division, 18th Corp, 1st Allied Airborne Army. After the war, Albert returned home and continued to work as an electrical lineman eventually working for L.E. Myers Co. in Longview, Texas where he met Jaris “Ann” Johnson in October 1948 and married her in December of the same year. They enjoyed 69 years of marriage until Ann’s death last September.
Albert moved the family to Houston, Texas in 1960 and began working for the City of Houston in the Traffic and Transportation Department. He retired from the City in 1982. Albert and Ann moved to Chandler, Texas where they enjoyed living on Lake Palestine until they moved to the Texas Masonic Retirement Center in 2003.
Albert always loved watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and in his younger years was quite the water skier.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, four sisters and parents-in- law, Mary and Ray Johnson. He is survived by daughters Patricia Ann Love and Mary Deborah Love; son Stephen Ray Love; grandchildren Lauren Rae Kilgore and her husband Kevin, Brittany Renee’ Newcomb, Trevor Ryan Love and his fiancé Becca Pel and Shelby Elisabeth Love; great-grandchildren Kennedy Rae Kilgore, Kingsley Emerson Kilgore, Ashlynn Lily Munoz and Rylan Michael Newcomb; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Texas Masonic Retirement Center for their loving care of both Mom and Dad. In lieu of flowers they would suggest a donation to the charity of your choice.
A memorial service is being planned for Friday, April 12, at 10:00 a.m. in the Main Chapel of the Texas Masonic Retirement Center. Inurnment will follow in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:00.
