Ai-Lien Thuy Nguyen, 28, registered nurse and force of nature, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in downtown Fort Worth. She proudly attended school in Arlington, graduating from Bowie High School in 2008. She graduated summa cum laude from Bowie, in the top 10 of her graduating class, and also led as a drum major for Bowie’s marching band.
Linny found her calling in healthcare, where her sharp intelligence and insatiable curiosity was matched only by her caring heart. She first worked as a technician at Texas Health Harris Methodist HEB Hospital as she completed nursing school. She earned their Heart of Promise distinction after just one year. After graduating from TCC’s nursing program in 2016, she found her home at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in downtown Fort Worth, where she was recognized for her intuitive care. She earned her BSN from Texas Tech in 2017, graduating summa cum laude. Always eager to expand her knowledge, she had just begun working at UT Southwestern Hospital’s cath lab when her life was cut short.
Linny is remembered for a magnetism and warmth that welcomed everyone, and she tolerated no unkindness. She was a fierce and gentle spirit, and honest and kind. She never forgot a face or a punchline. She had an outrageous sense of humor, and loved to laugh. She wasn’t above a carefully executed prank, either. If you were lucky enough to be pranked by Linny, you knew you were loved. She excelled at gifts, and her handmade crafts and cheesecakes were a special trademark. She devoted herself to the children in her life, and lavished them with thoughtful presents and also with that intangible gift of time and personal attention. There was no part too small in the performance, and no soccer field too far — she was there to cheer you on.
Linny is survived by her parents, Dinh and Tuyet Nguyen of Arlington; sister Vy Nguyen and her family, sister Van Nguyen and her family, sister Kim Le and her family; brother Long Nguyen; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home on S Bowen Rd in Arlington: Thursday, July 5 from 7-9pm with a Rosary at 7pm, and Friday, July 6. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 6 at 7pm, also at Moore Funeral Home on S Bowen Rd. Her family would love to meet you and hear your stories. Funeral: Saturday, July 7 at 10am, Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church in Arlington, followed by interment at Moore Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to causes that Linny held dear: pediatric or cardiac care, child safety, or foundations which provide support for education. Suggestions include Texas Health Resources Foundation, which honors the work she did as a nurse and care provider, as well as the exceptional level of care that she received as a patient.
