Adria was born September 18, 1929 in Rainbow, Texas to Wm. C. and Velma Woodard. When she was five years old, the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she attended school and graduated from Polytechnic High School and Texas Wesleyan College.
She married J. Denny Walker in 1949. They had three children, Nick, Lorie and Julie. Denny passed away in 1966. In 1968, she married Don Schimpf, and the blended family moved to Arlington, Texas. Adria was a former elementary school teacher in Fort Worth. She also taught at Pantego Christian Academy in Arlington.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Arlington where she volunteered as a teacher in the International Friends Ministry since 1986. She also volunteered at Mission Arlington Adult Day Care Center, experimenting with watercolor painting with residents. She was also an art docent with the Arlington schools. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends and attending Elder-hostels throughout the U.S.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Don, her first husband of 17 years, Denny Walker; two sisters, Donnie Delk and Nona Lattimore; a brother, T.H. Woodard; and parents W.G. and Velma Woodard.
She is survived by sons, Nick Walker and his wife, Barb, of Vancouver, WA; Rex Schimpf and wife, Brenda, of Arlington, TX; daughters, Lorie Hawkes and husband, George, of Red River, NM; Patti Schimpf Jackson and husband, Jay, of Arlington, TX; and Julie Walker and Janet Samuelson of Santa Fe, NM. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
