I knew Bill for many years.  As a friend and my Agent, he was always a good person.  I will miss him.

Bill and I started our allstate careers in sales class. That was 1967. How time flies. He had a sense of humor that I have never forgotten. Although we haven't been in contact for years, the thought of bill brings me a massive smile. If there is a heaven, he is there!!

Bill Leahy was one of those "Irish lads" that had the funniest quips at the most appropriate time.   He would bust me up sometimes.  That being said, he also was capable of great empathy if he thought you were going through a tough time.  He was one of a kind, and will be truly missed by all his handball friends!

Bill taught me to not take things--like a handball score, too seriously-- when playing, he would trail me and gently pull the back of my shirt to shop me from moving toward the ball

Following  bilateral hip surgery about 10 years ago, I was reposing in a north side nursing home  - stewing over how long it will be before i could get back on a handball court again. Low & behold, the last person in the world that i would expect came strolling into my room..Bill Leahy!!.... He came to visit me out of sheer goodness, i.e., he knew I was miserable, incapacitated & chomping to get out of that place and resume my normal life - especially handball. We spent the next hour or so regaling each other about handball stories & solving life's problems, it was a perfect mental "enema"  for me that truly lifted my spirits, thanks to Bill. 
   The concern & thoughtfulness he shared with me that day will stay with me until my own dying day and I'm sure the same holds true for all his fellow YMCA  buddies whose life he had touched in one way or another.  

Bill's view of life was the same as his feeling for handball.  It's just a game that is fun and meant to be enjoyed.  I certainly enjoyed Bill's company and will miss him at the Villa.  God Bless him.

Bill loved the game of handball especially the part of interacting with the players.  He liked to call out the wrong scores just to see if you were paying attention.  He had and assortment of antics to keep the game from becoming too serious.  His subtle ways reminded me that the game should, first if all, be fun.  Once during an intense volley he jerked my shorts down to my knees.  It got a good laugh from everyone.  I will miss his quiet sense of humor and the careful consideration he showed to me and our fellow handball players & golfers..

My condolence to Bill's family.  Bill was my friend for 40 plus years.  I will miss his humor and antics.    God bless his soul.
