Ronald Edward Rogers

Ronald Edward Rogers was born on December 4, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to Edward Burke and Marie (nee Neurauter) Rogers. He died on October 1, 2022 at Symphony of Buffalo Grove in Buffalo Grove, Illinois

Ronald was in the banking industry for many years having worked at several banks in Chicago and finally retiring in 1980 as Vice-President of the Northbrook Bank.

Ron was a great basketball player in his youth. He played on a team from the First National Bank of Chicago which won 61 consecutive games over a period of two seasons. His participation on this team is actually how Ron got introduced to the banking industry. He also played for DePaul High School as well as St. Andrews. Ron accumulated over 50 trophies during his basketball career.

During the 1960’s, Ron was a part of a softball team, called the Yanks from the Banks, that won the Chicago City Championship 2 years in a row. That same tournament is now named after Mayor Richard Daley. You had to win your league to get invited to participate in this tournament that consisted of over 250 teams.

Ron’s other passion was fishing, he loved to fish and was very good at it. Over his lifetime, he caught more than 216 legal muskies while fishing on vacations. His favorite spot to fish was Boyd’s Mason Lake Resort.

Ronald is survived by his sons David (Gail) and Brent Rogers as well as his grandchildren Thomas and Dylan Rogers and his step-grandchildren Robert and James Hinteleitner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne Rogers as well as his ex-wife Joan Dorothy Zdunek.Visitation Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 8:00 am until the time of Prayers at 9:15 am at Glueckert Funeral Home 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004 proceeding to St. Emily Catholic Church 1400 East Central Road, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056 for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Des Plaines.
