Robert Leo Black

Robert Leo "Bob" Black, age 92, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023, after a brief illness. Born September 21, 1930, to Alfred R. Black and Jane F. Harrington in Rhode Island, Bob graduated from Boston University in 1952, served in the U.S. Army, and traveled to Chicago where he worked in sales. In 1959 he married the love of his life Jean (Nagle) Black and they welcomed four children: Carolyn (Dr. Stuart) Ferber, Sheila (Bob) Haennicke, Robert Jr., M.D. and Thomas. They raised their family in Elk Grove Village and Arlington Heights.

Predeceased by Jean, his parents, brother William, and grandson David Haennicke, Bob is survived by his children, son-in-laws, and his grandchildren: Angelica Haennicke, Samuel Ferber, Joseph Ferber, and Jack Ferber. Fond uncle, cousin, friend to many. Services will be private. Donations may be made to the Buddy Foundation, 65 W. Seegers Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005, where Bob and Jean found their longtime canine companion, Teddy.
